No matter the outcome of the election - it is just so inspiring to me to be one of the million's of voices which will be heard today. I voted today, and I wear my "I Voted" sticker proudly. I hope everyone who can and wants to vote, will be able to.
Katie & her friends had a great time on Friday night for her Birthday/Halloween party - and I have to say I was very happy that everything went off without a hitch. The kids were all very well behaved and the scavenger hunt was a huge success.
I'm finishing up the things to do for Katie's big Birthday/Halloween party tonight. Pick up her monster cake, hang the last of the decorations, and hide all the clues for the scavenger hunt. She has 18 guests confirmed so far, so it will be a houseful of 12 year-olds. Oh Joy! Whatever possessed me to agree to this? Not sure - I don't remember, but she must have asked me on a good day after a glass or 2 of chardonnay. I'll be sure to have my camera ready - and I hope everyone has a safe & Happy Halloween!
I seriously suck at blogging - and I haven't had time or energy lately to keep up with it. Life sometimes takes over - and too many other things are going on, both all around me & in my thoughts, for me to remember to post an update.
October has flown by so quickly it seems, and I've been busy all month planning Katie's Birthday/Halloween party for next Friday night. She has invited about 20 friends, and we are working on getting everything we need for the food, decorations, and the scavenger hunt. It should be a lot of fun - and I hope it all goes well.
I've been busy as co-leader for Katie's girl scout troop this year, and we spent last Friday afternoon on a field trip to the local pumpkin patch. It was fun - the girls had a good time on the hayride and at the mini petting zoo and got to search the fields for a pumpkin of their own to take home. It was a gorgeous fall day.
I'll try to do better at keeping up with posting - but can't guarantee that life won't take over ;-)
I was able to catch up with our friends Jill & Mike this past Sunday for brunch - and they let me know that the beach house in Galveston had only minor damage from Ike - lots of sand & such washed into the garage on the lower level, but the clean up was not as bad as they had thought. Thank goodness! My heart still goes out to all the others who lost so much - and I pray that the area recovers as quickly as possible. It's such a gorgeous place - I'm hoping for the best ;-)
It's been a long time since I had a bit of time for myself to scrap - and I finally had a chance to get a few things completed. My girlfriend Jane had a weekend retreat this past weekend at the Memory Lane Inn in McKinney (just 20 minutes from my house), and I was able to get away during the day for the past few days and scrap. I probably would have gotten more done had I not talked so much - but it was great to catch up with friends. Here are a few picture's of the latest projects - a Disney & a Dog themed acrylic album:
There have been lot's of things going on the past few weeks - and I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to post anything to my blog recently. but with the help of some Red Bull, I actually completed a few things around the house - like painting and decorating Teresa's room (she came home for a quick visit last weekend), and getting more items out of mine & Katie's closet, and sent over to the Goodwill store. Still more to do - and I also have a new custom album client from Pennsylvania who I am working for - creating her Wedding Album for her. She had both a beautiful Indian/American and Traditional ceremonies - and the colors are just gorgeous to work with - so that is keeping me busy as well. I'll post some samples of that album once I get a chance;-)

The "Ette's" have apparently finally had enough of dealing with the real owner's of Breezy Design (who are same former owner's of TLC - the same people who stole, cheated & lied to all it's former consultant's when it changed it's format to wholesale in April then went out of business in May):

I loved TLC because of it's beautiful and innovative products designed by Annette & Fayette - and wish them well in the future. I never understood why they would continue to be a part of Breezy after what the company did - I can only guess they were hoping to get paid the commissions they earned like the rest of us.
Jill & Mike sent me a photo of the beach house on Friday - even before the storm hit - and there was a home on fire about 2 rows away from them, and they had not heard anymore since then, and had little hope that it survived the storm.
But - It seems the beach house is still standing in Galveston. I've been watching local TV KHOU coverage - and they showed the Pirates Beach area on one of the helo flights over the area - and I was able to pick out the beach house on Sandpiper Lane - and it is still standing. It seems the 2 homes on both sides of the one on fire in the photo above are gone - because on the video link I can only see the home with the orange colored roof on that row still standing closest to the water.
It comes about 4 minutes into the video - but it looks like the Kernahan beach home is still there - and tons of prayers still being sent that the damage is minimal.
